Cirikisuva sets team goals

Fiji Times - Saturday, April 05, 2008 7:53 AM

HIGHLANDERS under-20 skipper Jese Cirikisuva said his side will settle for nothing less than a win as they face Knights in the Colonial Cup final today.

"We've prepared well and confident to upset Knights on their home ground come tomorrow (today)," he said.

The former national rep to the underat-19 world cup in Ireland said they are raring to take on their opponents.

"It's their home ground but I'm leading my boys so I know their capabilities and we'll definitely give the Knights a good run," Cirikisuva said.

The Lakeba lad who was the Marist Brothers High School headboy in 2006 was given the leadership role at the beginning of the season.

He describes the role as a testing ground.

"I'm not new to leadership roles but it's been quite challenging and a good experience to rub shoulders with many players.

"As a captain, I meet different people with different personality and have the huge task of trying to blend them as one in a team," he said.

"When you lead a team, you need to get to know your players and see that they all have one common goal in order to achieve the ultimate goal," he said.
