Knights U20 have tails up

Fiji Times - Saturday, April 05, 2008 7:53 AM

THE Knights are quietly confident of their chances when they go head to head with Highlanders in the Colonial Cup under-20 final at Ratu Cakobau Park today.

Knights head coach Lance Whippy said overpowering the reigning champs is a challenge but the maturity in the team will be an asset when the heat is on.

"This is the final and we'll all want to win but it has to be achieved and as defending champs Highlanders will set the platform," he said.

"We have about 11 players who have some national experience and some recently selected into the national under-20 world cup squad," Whippy said.

"Preparations have been ongoing with no setbacks so far. The boys are relishing the challenge. Apart from polishing up on all areas of the game and our set pieces, we've beefed up the mental focus."

The Knights will be led by former national under-19 flanker Waqabaca Kotobalavu.

"We have to step it up and the boys are urging fans to come out in big numbers and support them before their senior team takes on Crusaders in the seniors final."
