Twin torpedoes start for champs

The Fiji Times - Friday, October 09, 2009 12:42 PM

NAITASIRI’S twin torpedoes Nasoni Roko and Mosese Luveitasau have been recalled into the starting lineup to defend the Farebrother Sullivan Trophy against Nadroga at Ratu Cakobau Park tomorrow.

The duo, who are shining products of the Naitasiri Rugby Union development system, will provide the experience and stabilizing factor against a Nadroga side that is bent on returning to Sigatoka with the silverware.

National sevens rep Nasoni Roko will start at fullback while former Car-diff Blues winger Mosese Luveitasau pairs Joe Nakaira on the wing.

This is the two notable change coach Reverend Joji Rinakama will make in his line up for the last challenge of the season.

Regular fullback Joe Ravulovulo and winger Sanaila Vitau were ruled out because of injuries sustained during the 30-18 win over Lautoka last Saturday.

Rinakama said he had faith Roko would rise to the standard.

"Definitely, I have faith in Nasoni at fullback. He has played and should definitely do well from the back," Rinakama said.

Roko was in the Cook Islands last weekend and missed the Highlanders victory over Lautoka.

The specialist winger made his presence felt at Prince Charles Park three weeks ago when Naitasiri wrestled the prestigious trophy from Nadi.

He also featured in their first trophy defence against Suva a fortnight ago.

Rinakama has made no changes in his forwards which includes skipper Apisai Rinamalo, Ben Sadrugu, Vesi Rarawa, Jale Koroi, Senivalati Vunibola and Nadroga lad Apisalome Ratuniyarawa.

Former Suva rep Jokini Sivo will start from the bench.

Rinakama added they had reached another level at training and players were ready to defend the trophy with all they had.

The game kicks off at 3pm at the Vodafone Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.
