GIANT lock forward Ponipate Kato's return has boosted Red Rock's campaign prior to the Suva Sevens Series at the National Stadium this Friday and Saturday.

Kato had his first training run with the Qauia-based side at Albert Park today.

The former national rep has been Red Rock's impact players in local tournaments and this week the man mountain will be among players to watch against other top local clubs.

Coach Lote Rasiga said Kato's return had lifted the morale of the young players in the team.

Rasiga said Kato was a specialist in the shortened code.

"This is a timely boost for us. Kato is an experienced player and I believe the younger players in the team will be motivated with his inclusion."

Rasiga said they would be out to prove their worth as one of the local club champions when the tournament kicks off Friday.

Red Rock has produced players like Lepani Nabuliwaqa, Sireli Bobo and Niumaia Cakacaka who have established their names as great sevens players.

He said playing in the Digicel Suva Rugby Festival in January was the objective the team wants to accomplish.

"We always train to win. Our aim is to earn a sport in the January International tournament and we'll try our best to achieve that."

"This is an opportunity where we could play against top international teams. We've got some young players in our side whoi will learn when we meet the top teams in the tournament," Rasiga added.
