Suva fields two teams
The Fiji Times - Tuesday, November 03, 2009 7:33 PM
TWO teams representing the capital side will play at the inaugural Suva 7s Series on Friday and Saturday.
The Suva One and Two teams will have a number of players preparing for the Tahiti 7s, where the capital team will take part in later this month.
Players like James Brown, Patrick Osborne, William Saukuru, Sakaria Tuinabewa, Alipate Bete and Amnisitai Niukula will form the core of the side.
Another top team will be Wardens Gold, which under the guidance of former national sevens coach Josateki Savou will have a number of stars.
These include the likes of Pio Tuwai, Seremaia Burotu, Lepani Nabuliwaqa and veteran Setefano Cakau.
Waimanu One will have some of the Naitasiri provincial players, while Police Blue and White will also boost players from the recent Sukuna Bowl.
Suva Rugby Union chairman Vilikesa Rauca said no team could be tagged as the clear favourite because all teams would be out to make the cut for the international tournament.
"We anticipate a good tournament with a number of good teams," Rauca said.
"But we can't count out the little known teams."
