Savou wants to keep job

Fiji Times - Saturday, May 17, 2008 1:27 PM

FIJI coach Josateki Savou will re-apply for the position when his term comes to an end after the Scotland tournament in the International Rugby Board Sevens World Series next month.

The Fiji Rugby Union Board also agreed that both management positions would be advertised after the team's return from Scotland in June.

The England Sevens tournament will be held over May 24-25 while the Scotland tourney is on May 31 to June 1.

Savou took over from Waisale Serevi last year and so far has failed to win any tournament in the 2007/2008 season.

The side lost in the finals of the Dubai and George tournaments to New Zealand before going down in the quarter-finals at Wellington and San Diego.

The side was beaten in the semi-finals of Hong Kong and Adelaide.

New Zealand leads the series on 126 points ahead of South Africa on 92 and Fiji on 74 While Savou has had a number of critics point fingers at him, the former national rep said he wasn't worried about what others thought. "Yes I am thinking of applying again," Savou said.
