Fiji out yet again. What is the problem?
FIJI was never known to be a team which went out in the quarter-final stages in two consecutive tournaments.
The loss to New Zealand has seen the side now fail to make it past the last eight in two consecutive tournaments.
What do you think is the main reason?

- The problem is with the FRU (Tavanavanua) He brought in a cricket coach to coach sevens..Likewise..Jo Savou receiving orders from CEO (Tavanavanua)at the Fiji Bowling club bar.Our CEO is a bowling experts. If you go to the Fiji bowling club now..you can see him enjoying his beer with Fiji 15's coach Ilivasi Tabua.A week before they left for Hong Kong,believe me...You'll see Ravai..Tavanavanua & Ilivasi Tabua was at the bowling club enjoying their beer and mapping out the Hong Kong strategy..while Vunibaka and the team sweating it out at the ground. O cei dou vakaisine..!These is where our problems lies...Bainimarama..axe the Tailevu trio....and you take over...Tailevu is so ashamed of them..!

- FRU needs to hire an independent PR and Management Firm to educated and restructure the organization. Its needs to be improved to a modern day sports management. We need sales people to find sponsors that can sustain the finances and also to build a sevens facility. Its never to late.. to change for the better. I would highly recommend Waisele Serevi to be the ambassador of FRU Sevens Management Team/ IRB Sevens. The rest is history...so help us GOD. GO FIJI GO. Much blessings ..Vinakwa.

- I think Savou has done his best only the players are to be blamed of example;the captain Naba and Lewaqai but to me personaly Nanuku and Vucago,Maya are the great players but they have done their best thak you very much and GOD BLESS YOU ALL..

- Bring back a father figure like Serevi to coach the fiji 7steam.It is very important to build up team spirits between the team members and at the same note have confidence and respect on each other and above all the players to have confidence in their Manager and Coatch.Performance of any team would only reflects the quality of coatching given to them .It is high time for the FRU to do some soul searching to find the right path to prosperity.I suggest Get WAISALE SEREVI back cause he has enormous experience in this field and boot both JS and the Manager out.They need to swallow their pride and take a hike to where they belong.

- we have pointed fingures at the likes of nabuliwaqa,caucau,serevi and others for being illdisciplined and having their own way...... which i say is the very attitude that is needed in a team.
we have bum suckers who bend over to the fru officials to get in but lack the survival instinct to their responsibilities.....this often takes a while before these individuals understand that they cant rely on the fru to tell them what to do second by second instructions during a game.

here lies one of the critical thinking error of the present day dilemma of the fijians decision making body....we want to be the ones responsible for this and that and have forgotten the merit of the individual players.
same with deciding for a coach....Savou is not a coach by nature .....he is a manager. big difference!

The last 2 tournment was an good plateform for the team to gage from and still no result. Bring in experience players put them for hong kong and the players right now they have done what can be done.Thank you boys hard luck may be next time. - this is not something new for the jo savou coached side..main reason is lack of understanding and interpreting of the game by the players and the coach himself..with each team u have to bring in something new to hit them with...we lost to samoa and nz today only because they have carefully mastered the fijians tactics and its high time we change it..better suggetion yet..get serevi...he always has something new up his sleeves....wake up FRU...quit sleeping tavanavanua...own up n make a change now or resign and let someon else make the calls from here on in ur seat as well...

- Please retain the core players...they will win the series next year!.the are still learning the art of playing sevens...Ryder cant tackle,serevi is too old,Naevo needs to worry about his contract,Nabuliwaqa still tackle illegally and needs to work on that...so everybody have their weakness..Serevi was just lucky when he first played in HK he was with the top blokes and he worked his way up..These poor guys just need more time to work together..I hope we will all support the Players.They have done their very best..but KICK the COACH ASS..tamata sega ni dau tackle ena timi ni prison..

- FRU should relook at its management decisions with regards to the selection of the sevens coach as well as those sitting in as panel of selectors. Some of the decsions that they have made is questionable by the public of Fiji. How can we go without the legendary, the maestro whom the world see as the king of sevens -Waisale Serevi. His advice and his experience is the best that Fiji need at this time, nothing else. His knowledge of the sevens game is unmatched yet Savou went without his advice. Can Fiji regain its glory - bring Serevi back to be the coach.

- What on earth was that?? It looks like the boys are in true need of some inspiration. Their coach should be the first source of this, but I guess he is in need of some inspiration too.
Maybe we're building a team for Hong Kong, maybe for the 7s World Cup, maybe to be able to beat our local teams, .... lots of maybes.
That is exactly what seems to be the current problem... MAYBE one day we will find our national pride again.

- Let us go back to the same old things we use to do before when Fiji was unbeatable. Have a good selection base from all major local Sevens tournaments. Get Serevi, who has an unblemished record to takeover as coach and get all these Suva rugby officials in the FRU to resign and have a fair selection from good rugby brains from all other unions. If not, Fiji will go back to thera of Plate Competition when wanna be coaches like Cawanibuka, Tomasi Cama, Veidreyaki etc. were at the helm.

- I have been making plans to go to Hong Kong, to cheer for Fiji. And I know other Fiji die-hard fans as well around the world. The latest progress of the team is not showing class! I want to watch the flair we are known for. Gordon Tiejiens is really making psychological strategies to beat the Fijians and their style of play.
Past world experience:
Wales sack their 15s coach when they lost to Fiji in the World Cup, and now the team are winning their 6 nations games. It proves that the players are not the culprits, it's the coach that needs to rest and take a break.
Connection: Fiji just won over Argentina & England which proves that it can beat New Zealand. Savou should rest after given the previous games to show his abilities as a coach.
Helpful Hints: If FRU stands by Savou, then Savou should look at the psychological weaknesses of the players, i.e. how they can maintain a win in a leading situation (e.g with Samoa game), OR how can they psychologically stay together as a team.
Conclusion: Have the Team go for a BOOT CAMP!
For FRU: For creativity reason, stick to the same team, coz other top Fiji players like Serevi are dependent on their commitments.

- I have seen them playing both in Wellington and USA. No major changes. We do not know what the coach is telling them during the break. Both tournamenst we lost to Samoa. In USA Fiji was all over Samoa in the first half and in the seconfd half they ultilised on Fiji's weaknesses. That was the kick offs and Fiji though had tall players could not gather any kick offs and Samoa utilised the mistakes to score their tries. Why coudn't the coach have a plan B to shut Samoa out when they were comfortably in front.That should have been done in the break. Fiji lack mental toughness like NZ and Samoa. They need a good coach to do that. This coach had his time and needs to go now.

- fru games komiti must re-look and readjust focus now. Surely, this team has a lot of potential but we could not afford to kicking away opportunities, making dashing runs to the touch line. Kick offs are the worse, they just dont have the will to contest, if u see the games between samoa, the coach and the management should know by experience that Uale Mai, is quite good at kick offs, just on 10metre line dot. the boys did not make any effort to move up to the 10m line, all samoa's kick off retained and no possesion to the boys...they should have made serious thoughts on how to tackle samoa, but the strategy was not there, we claim to have speed, we have no speed at all.

- Where's the structure man and the game plan? our attack is pathetic and predicatble our defense flimsy. Our team needs to be more committed in the tackle to rattle their bones with bone crunchers and set up ruck ball only when their is no space to move. If their defensive line is up too close bust thru them or kick over themm and chase the ball man!!! Use your brains guys!!! like Samoa!! and most of all PLAY AS A TEAM!!!! Areh Babu!!!

- Once more we are headed with the same prayer that Fiji is in to win. It is not only the players effort but back at home(Fiji Islands)from the very young to the very old are crossing their fingers for Fiji to go to the finals. It means not just any finals but the Cup finals.
Time and time again the players are repeating the same mistakes. Why don't we understand that getting a grip on the ball is so important. I am sorry to say the other players are not like Serevi who manages to catch the ball single-handed. Another weak point is we need a game breaker to finish it off now going back to our famous Rider.
The truth is that we can't entirely blame the players, wonder what game plan is our coach teaching him. Nowadays we are just full of excuses that we couldn't do this because of this and that, but why is that happening.
I feel that our boys need that spirit of our old and experienced players. Therefore, Savou should have a very good excuse once again or let our Waisale Serevi back on force (people want him back)along side with Nabuliwaqa and Rider.

Time and time again the players are repeating the same mistakes. Why don't we understand that getting a grip on the ball is so important. I am sorry to say the other players are not like Serevi who manages to catch the ball single-handed. Another weak point is we need a game breaker to finish it off now going back to our famous Rider.

- dont blame the players people...blame the selectors...o and i almost forgot...blame the coach he is pathetic. What coach says, they have been working on their mistake when it clearly showed on the field that none of the mistakes were rectified. come on we all know this team needs a leader, someone who is able to mould a devistating combination to produce results that would put smiles to all fijian supporters.
p.s get the wizard...i know he may have out played his time as a player but his coaching skills have yet to be seen..fiji is the only team other then NZ to win the series and guess who made that happen...

- I watched the game, they have no ball winners to contest the 50/50 balls at the breakdowns, continous tackling for 1-3 mins will just wear you down, they cannot string together more than two rucks that would normally suck in fringe defenders and create gaps out wide. Relook at the forwards and bring back a big fast rover and the guy who plays wing for Serevis team, now theres a grass burner if there was one

- The Fiji team has been tested and they were found to be very frail. The FRU have been vetted, and unfortunately (they) are found to be a pack of rats. What other proofs does the FRU need? Serevi is by far the best not only in the 7's arena; also as the mentor and coach. The stinking FRU rats should learn to accept criticisms in a professional way - it's about time.

- In the last 3 irb series we notice the importance of having a reliable kicker, but why can't we rectify the problem and now we cry for spill milk. Who else can and will tell us the truth, this team lost 3 out of 4 practice match with a club team before were dispached.They have not proven that they are ready. The Nabua team in those days won every local competition while grooming to be fiji team. The best coach is he that can analyse the game and quickly work on it, both his team and the other teams [the players]weaknes and strength. If the coach don't have this quality, releave him. We need not to point fingers for the milk is already spilt. If proper groud work is done without hesitation we will produce result otherwise forget it. My advice is for those involve, please pls do it with a right and clean heart for postive result.

- GT took 3 to 4 years to build up his present combination.Changes to the squad came in at a rate of 1 to 2 new players per tournament.On the other hand Fiji without much choice had to choose 7 of its best new reps to replace the old ones who have been lured to lucrative offers overseas.To reach two finals at the start of the series with completely new players is an archievement no other team has achieved,not even NZ.Keep the team and coach then see the results.We hardly get results overnight.For Peni Veidreyaki,pls stick to coaching your Namoli team.

- In two successive tournaments Fiji is playing in the Plate competition. This is not on. It's about time the coach as well as the players are changed. There's no game pattern and a lot of individualism. The tackling is pathetic and no support to the ball carrier. The coach should have rectified this problem by now. I'm sure there's a lot of better players here in Fiji who can perform much better than the current crop of players.

If FRU cannot accept that it needs to rope in Serevi into the coaching panel and bring in impact players to bring back glory by uplifting the Honk Kong 7's and to successfully defend the World Cup next year, then I suggest for the next 4 years or so, the FRU selectors, board, games committee and Savou go and play 'pani' at Albert Park!!

- My own opinion is that the Fiji Team, its Trainers, and even the Media (especially Sports Writers) have a psychologicial problem in their approach to Rugby. There is this continual stream of verbal and written statements saying that "oh well, Fiji is good, and we'll certainly do well next time. The reason for the losses were the referee, the lack of a kicker, the opposition (?), the weather, the worng boots.......etc.". It's about time that all concerned recognise that the Fiji team has numerable deficiencies, and cannot concentrate on what they are doing for any length of time.

- The writing is on the wall, with little or no strategy, weakness will surface in such competitions. If Savou is to be retained by FRU ignoring the majority airing change in the coaching panel – than an assistant coach is to accompany Savou instead of an influencing trainer. Why trainer, we did not have this in the past – JS is a weak strategist thus he need a co-coach [Bari/Jope] to accompany him. The trainer may be an ex coach of the sevens team but Savou is simply having the same results as he did during his period – the game pattern and wrong positional play was a trade mark of the trainer, now has become JS.
Savou may be a good coach but seems to be a weak strategist to appreciate revolving game pattern displayed and the counter within the time frame?
