Will HPU coaches help sevens?
THE Fiji sevens team will have all the coaches from the High Performance Unit available at its disposal to prepare for the IRB World Series.
This includes Ilivasi Tabua, Shannon Fraser, Greg Mumm and Reverend Joji Rinakama.
Do you think this will help us win the series back this season?

- The integration would definately help the 7's team and of coarse change the attacking mindset for the 15's.The world teams are scared to death when we attack them like a seven's game,just attack from all angle. We need a right mindset and attitude to develop the caliber of such players.Qera, Naevo and Rawaqa prove to us in France that Ilivasi's concept is right and will work for us in future.Hope to see more tight fives involve in the new seven season.

- Yes, I think it is a good idea. I think I know two of the personnel involved ie. Tabua and Savou. I know these two wonderful rugby brains will work wonderfully well together. Mind you, Tabua has played enough 7s for Australia to know what he's talking about.
Yes, having all those good rugby minds at his disposal will only help Savou and his pursuit for high honors in 7s.
We might even want to rope in Bosco to help Ravai the manager. Again I know both gentlemen well and I think they too will work wonders for the boys and for the team and country.
Anyway, Savou and Ravai: Good luck and Good rugby. We are with you all the way.

- Yes,I totally believe in a team effort to build our Sevens Team, which is the best in the world.Sevens is a breeding ground for our National 15's team..this is where most players are introduced to the global rugby,gauging their opponent,gaining exposure, adapting to weather changes,travelling in different time zones,etc, which fairly have effect their performance in the field.The Panels with their experiences will contribute to set a better platform for our Gladiators..Go FIJI Go.

- A good idea. Jo Savou will need ideas too from other coaches as overseas teams know how to counter some of our moves now and how we play as it seems to be the same in all the tournaments last year. It's good to keep them guessing all the time.

7s is the foundation to the extended 15s code, a lot of praise was mentioned by European rugby pundits/commentators during the RWC about our boys ball skills while running and in contact areas. I think most of it is down to players having short/extended stints in 7s either in local competitions or international.
The HPU programme is the right way to go to prep our young 7s players for the physicality of 15s. This way the transition from 7s to 15s will be alot smoother then it has ben in the past.
Zack, Ryder is good 7s player,but, we must remember rugby is a team sport. The Kiwis & English in the last 2 seasons found ways to shut Ryder out of the game.

- Definitely ! Indeed, its one of the brilliant idea that will work wonder for the Fiji Rugby players. With 1 headcoach and the other experience coach to contribute. I believe that was why Fiji won the Melrose Cup. The contribution from 15 and 7 rugby coaches. Lets Do It ! ! ! Go Fiji Go. God Bless.

- One other point,from the world cup perspective.
That when we have two great defense geared teams like England and South Africa then we might need the 7s oriented players to break the defense system.
Which means in 7s we are developing the speed skills with the ball in hand and also strenthening the mental attitude of the rugby player.
Activity of a player tend to increase considerably in 7s situation.

- Its important that we keep the two embracing each other for the betterment of rugby.The 7s and the 15s.
The HPU is a major contribution to the development of bothe codes and the codes should be seen as supplementing each other.
Important positions filled by rugby teams in the world cup were handled by the 7s components.
Mathew Tait of Englaand, the Africans flier and our new found Fiji 15s forward Semisi Naevo were all 7s exponents.
Now we have finally strike the right code and conduct, and broken into new ground in the 15s code, its important that the 7s take it on from where the 15s left off.
Let FRU work towards regaining some of the lost glories in 7s and move strongly to upgrade critical bridging aspects of the two codes.
As early as the next two years, we should estalished our superiority in the rugby fields.
Our testing ground remains Samoa, Tonga,Japan, and the tier 1 nations of Australia and New Zealand.
We were keeping our fingures crossed during the last Pacific Forum Island meetings in Nukua lofa, that Our leaders FIJI, Tonga, Samoa that they copuld have influenced the NZPM and Autralia foreign minister Downer, to consider us seriously joining the Super 14 competition.
If that request to our neighbours remain obscured then lets start to do and utilize our resource at hand to the fullest.
2011 IS THE YEAR TO FULLY BLOSSOM OUR GOALS.

- its ok, thanks for the posotive thoughts to have tabua and his team help in the sevens code.few players who were seen in the sevens arena are semisi naevo, jone daunivucu,delasau,caucau,and many more to name.i also wish our national sevens team in the next irb seious.the team in the full code has made us proud and i beleive that the short code can do the same

- yes, it will help a lot, as for seavens,its the foundation to the full code, in terms of exposer,and experiens wise, for an example see semisi naevo in this rugby wolrd cup, and it is agreat bonus to have tabua and his team in to the seavens code,its great for them to work together.
