Police build up for Sukuna Bowl

POLICE will be in full strength at this year's Sukuna Bowl inter-force rugby competition after a 40-member contingent was named to prepare for the annual event.
Leading the chase for a spot in the final team are Tailevu's Wate Vocevoce, Jonacani Erenavanua and Nadroga's Apisai Turukawa, Etonia Naba, Iliesa Ratuva, Maikeli Nadridri and Naitasiri centre Alusio Buto.
Police head coach Ifereimi Tawake said the force would put together a good team this year.
"Looking at the level of competition in the last three days I can say we'll be fielding a very good team for the Sukuna Bowl," he said.
Naba, who led Fiji to win gold at the South Pacific Games in Samoa, helped the Western Police Division XV side to another victory in the annual Fiji Police Forces inter-formation rugby at Nasova yesterday.
But the 31-27 win over the Police Mobile division did not come easy for the star-studded Western outfit coached by former Fiji front row utility Isaia Rasila. Naba, who has been selected for the first leg of the IRB 7s Series in Dubai and George, rallied behind his side.
The tough encounter saw both teams tied at 17-all at halftime but superb team effort from the westerners saw them pip the Mobile side in the last minute of play.
The side was captained by Vocevoce and featured the likes of Remesio Ravuiwasa, Joe Bale, Kevueli Bulivorovoro, Erenavanua and Sisi Waqa.
