Tabua tables World Cup report at special meeting

Ilivasi Tabua will table his report on the performance of the Flying Fijians at the Fiji Rugby Union special general meeting at the Holiday Inn in Suva today.

Tabua and team manager Pio Bosco Tikoisuva will outline Fiji's performance at the Rugby World Cup in France where the side achieved its goal of a quarter-final finish.

Topping the agenda at the meeting will be the 2008 rugby calendar which will be presented for scrutiny.

"Tabua and Bosco will make a brief report on the Rugby World Cup campaign just to inform the delegates the A to Z of what happened," FRU chief executive Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua said.

"The meeting was called to discuss the 2008 rugby calendar and to formalise it."

High Performance Unit manager Peter Murphy will also make a submission to the delegates.

The meeting will be followed by the Fiji Rugby Awards night at the lower Civic Centre Auditorium.

Flying Fijians forward, Akapusi Qera is the top bet for the Best Player Award following his outstanding performance at the RWC.

Other nominees for the top award include Sunia Koto, Mosese Rauluni and Kameli Ratuvou.

Etonia Naba leads the race for the Fiji sevens player of the year award. Other nominees are Setefano Cakau and Mosese Volavola.

The awards night begins at 6pm.
