I haven't watched the Dubai Sevens yet but I know that the boys on this Fiji sevens team can win the George sevens!
Any player chosen to represent Fiji should have already proven themselves at some point to impress enough selectors and may later be world class contenders in sevens or 15 a side.
Let's not criticize coach Joe, or any current player in particular while they are playing their hearts out for Fiji.

I think the overall performance is outstanding and I would like to raise a few points and number one
:Tackling-Some players are reluctant to commit themselves into tackle situation esp. Naomi Nanuku and the coach still allow him to cover the back why can't he put Mawi in place of him.
Ruck Situation:just compare the last years perfomance with this one,most of the tries came from turn over balls,while our new team just waited for opportition to run away with the ball without contesting.

But anywway all the best in this weeks tournament.

Is there such a thing as refs being penalised for their mistakes....or favouritism on the field? If there is none I suggest that the IRB need to look into penalising refs that don't play fair games on the field. It is really unfair for the players to work so hard on the field only to be victim of some stupid refs like the one that was on Fiji Vs All Blacks Finals. It's pathetic. IRB officials, please do something. That knock on was very obvious with the ref standing right in front of it. To the All Blacks, how do you feel winning when you know that the last try was a very controvercial one?

I'm satisfied with this team, except perhaps for Tamai Ruci's tackling, most of whioh were unsuccessful. Please concentrate on that, Joe. And the kicking- pathetic!! Those two points could make or break- as winners or losers. At least have someone concentrate on kicking during training.

Mr. Joe, the Coach, please take my complaint to the IRB - to see that their referees are neutral and fair- we Fijians are sick of the Fiji team being victims over and over again of those lousy referees. On that, I am mighty proud of our own, James Bolabiu, for his cool control of the games that he refereed. Good on you James!!!

Otherwise, good on you boys- keep up the good wor.

I am just getting abosultely pissed off with the standard of IRB refereeing being doled out on our boys whenever they take to the field, the sin-bin at crucial peaks in the game, the unaccounted knock-on and other questionable calls that could have turned the game around. The question that lurks is "conspiracy theory" so the big guns can continue to reap the rewards of commercialism and keep the rewards amongst themselves. Kudos to the boys and Joe, keep crunching those tackles and take the game head on, make it count early and defend like all hell's breaking loose. Go conquer George, Wellington, San Diego, and the series. Bon voyage and good luck.

The 12 did well this morning in Dubai.In the present times Fiji is just having a mixed results with New Zealand. In Fiji's last outings with New Zealand before this morning, the All Blacks romp home with 30-5 or so.No resistance by Fiji,no tackle, probably not interested. The trend,NZ/fIJI, seems to be whoever scored first has a 90% chance of making it right through.
Akuila Nacolaivau was hungry this morning.Tizens said it right,when on the roll Fiji will be tough to stop.
Our lineup is showing competitive spirit again and has shown some very great moves.Fiji launched its campaign well in Dubai.
Nuku,Fiji's specialised speed star must work hard on improving his performance.Like NZ, Zar Lawrance became thier hero AND tie breaker when two evenly matched team are facing each other. That role of a tie breaker should be left to the speed stars. Delasau,Vunibaka and sometimes Ryder would on so many occation play the role of breaking the opposition defense when pressured on our own tryline.
Saimoni Nuku should make amend at George.
Generally,this Fiji team is lacking in speed.Our team is not standing face to face with oppositions in tackle situation.Two days in Dubai showed our boys struggling,with stretched hands, to catch thier opponents from behind; a risky proposition.The same goes with our tackles from behind.While they cling on to the torso and lower parts of the body the opponents hand and upper body are free to clear the balls.
Neumi Nanuku is letting go far too many tackles and is not helping a lot in our overall effort to defeat our opposition.Let him sitout on the bench and become substitute.
We expect our boys to improve thier game plan and lift thier standard in George.Winning the final

The current govt already cut down on the sports budget and the Fiji Netball drama nad 15 a side too much boasting and so on..something has to deliver this time. We hope you guys will do the magic and brinng back the pride and what Fiji is capable of doing and show forth to the world..wish you guys the best and may Fiji once again taste victory once more..loosing is just to bitter sick and tired of the false promises..lets take a low profile now and be an underdog ..no more boasting and failing to bring the cup home..so just SHUT UP AND PLAY!

Possibly the ratio of selection should Four old and internationally exposed players and seven new players.That the four old players continue to be the run on team and the new players coming in as replacements.
But again its difficult to keep Fijian players long in our Sevens team as they often up for grabs by overseas clubs.

That our worries in the immediate pasts is that the SPEED of our sevens team in the forwards and backs is fast diminishing. In some of our recent games have seen being beaten squarely in the area of speed.
Manasa Bari, Filimoni Delassau, Vunibaka,Caucau,Etate Gusuivalu Honda,Robert Howard,Sainivalati Laulau, Acura Niuqila,Aisea Tuilevu, Luke Erenavula, Noa Nadruku,Tomasi Cama would stand on thier own in terms of speed in the international arena and singlehandedly gave Fiji wins where it count most.
The last three years our lack of speed has come as our major downfall.
Specifically,the Nadroga trio of Naba,Iliesa and Rupeni are not competitive enough in terms the essential ingredient SPEED.
In order to counter our lack in speed in the forwards and backs,Savou need need a complete well laidout game plans for every game.
Savou just need to know where our strngth lies and use that for maximum gains.Its well and good to say that every run on Fiji team can do the job.Thats not a fair assessment;Savou has to identify which combination works well and which strategies to use for particular match.
Cut-out the "set-tiko" often heard in half time pep talk.Say something useful during the half time break.

I think Willian Ryder was the only player taking the team forward.No disrespect to the the players, they have done their part.Where he is man?.If you guys dropped him for ill discipline thats bullshit man!..The rugby official need to understand more to what sort of background he is from..! Dont punish any body if he breaks the rule..thats copycat!.The pacific island players are different, its gonna take them some time to settle dowm..they are talented,god gifted..But most of them still find it hard to excel in the big world, could due to many reasons,acedamic,enviroment,lifestyle and weather..its the same here in Aust. and NZ..Good luck to the Fiji Sevens Boys and Joe.

Exposing the young and new talents is the way to go. Giving them a chance to experience playing in such atmospheres will enable them to gain more especially when coming to pressure situations. And come the 15 man code they know what to expect. Basically we're just paving the way for fifteens by exposing these unknown talents. AS for the naming of the team I know they can deliver.

Looking at our new line up i feel we lack speed out wide. Finishing off speed & skills that Vunibaka/Delasau/Caucau used to show. Other big teams will be looking to exploit this in the first tournaments.

Ball retention from kick off and line out might also hinder Fiji's attack and also place huge pressure on us from countries that have good tactical kickers and good line outs (i talk mainly of England wen i say this).

But on the positives there is a good mobile pack. Entonia Naba was a great choice and also Rupeni Nasiga will be take at least 2 tacklers everytime he gets the ball.

Overall key to our sucess is ball retention and organised defence. Retention i dont think we have and defence well we'll just have to wait and see.

All in All i dont think we'll win the first 2 tournaments. But thats not necessarily a bad thing.

Either way, i'll cheer my heart out and swear my hear out when Fiji places.
